NOTICE OF RACE
ARUBA INTERNATIONAL REGATTA 2019

LOCATION IS SURFSIDE BEACH ARUBA – BETWEEN AIRPORT AND SEA-ARUBA

1. RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 and the rules of entered classes, except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions.
1.2 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1 The regatta is open to all yachts in the Racing, Cruising and Open class, open sailboats in the Sunfish, Optimist and Beachcat class, Windsurf and Kitesurf classes and uncrewed vessels in the microboat classes.
2.2 Eligible participants may enter by completing the form on Friday August 16th 2019 from 5 pm till 7 pm at the registration desk at Surfside Beach, Aruba.

3. RATING CERTIFICATES

3.1 Racing class: Your boat must have a valid 2016, 2017, 2018 or 2019 CSA digital rating certificate. Only these digitally certified certificates are considered valid. Please have this taken care of before coming to registration.
3.2 Cruising Class/Open Class: Live-aboard and Cruising boats may elect to sail in the Open Class or the Cruising Class under the Simplified CSA Rating Rule. These boats do not need to be measured. Filling out a simple form is all that is required. The idea behind this is to allow live-aboard / cruising boats to join the fun. It is not intended for boats that do a fair amount of racing or for high performance boats.
3.3 The division between classes will be announced at Friday Aug 16th 8:00 pm. Written requests for Redress on ratings and class division will be received till 8:30 pm and be considered by the RC. The RC decision on this Redress will be announced not later than 9 pm. This decision will be final.

4. ENTRY FEES

4.1 To complete registration participants must complete registration at the registration desk and pay their entry-fee.
4.2

Required fees for participation in the Aruba Regatta competition are as follows:
US$. 150 – for Yachts (4 participants)
US$. 75 – for Beach cats (2 participants)
US$. 40 – for Sunfish (1 participants), F-11 and similar
US$. 20 – for Optimist (1 participants), F-11 youth and similar

5. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

5.1 The Aruba Regatta races will take place on Saturday Aug 17 and Sunday Aug 18, 2019.
5.2 There will be two awards ceremonies. Awards ceremony for the Aruba International Regatta junior classes will be on Sunday, Aug 19, 5:30 pm at Surfside Beach. Awards ceremony for all other Aruba International Regatta classes will be on Sunday, Aug 19, 7:00 pm. Award ceremony for the microboat classes will be announced later.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

6.1 The sailing instructions will be available on the day of registration.

7. VENUE

7.1 Registration is at the regatta office at Surfside Beach, Aruba.

8. SCORING

8.1 For all crewed classes, the low points scoring system will apply. Any number of races completed shall constitute a series. When all planned races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

9. PRIZES

9.1 In the Aruba Regatta, awards will be given to:
– The 1st, 2nd and 3rd yacht in the Yacht sailing classes.
– The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Sunfish, Optimist, F-11 and Beach Cat classes.
– The 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Microboat classes.

10. CLEAN REGATTA

10.1 Participants and spectators of the Aruba International Regatta are urged to visit the Clean Regatta stand at the Aruba International Regatta site and to engage in the regatta’s effort for a sustainable event.

11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

11.1 The organizing committee and any other party involved in the organization and conduct of the Aruba Regatta disclaims any liability for personal injury, personal or material damage whatsoever, sustained prior to, during or after the Aruba Regatta. Your entry in the Aruba Regatta will constitute a declaration of acceptance of all disclaimers made by the regatta.
